Now this one I still think was the best beta so far (perhaps because I was a tibran from the start and we won it ). From what I remember the map was changed in this game so the roids didn't connect to the home bases, the jumps all moving one sector to the side (eg mok instead of tibrar). No VR at this stage, and once LC was blown up you didn't have an official LC, though most legions still had an elected representative of some sort who got to give the orders.

Krils started really well. Too well for their own health actually [1]. Boraxians were getting slaughtered by them, so the tibs, ajax, and bors got together and killed off the krils. Most effective 3 on 1 battle I've ever seen. It stuck and got the job done with minimal fire on allies, although from what I've been told it wasn't a full blown NAP/Alliance, more of a meeting of self interests [2]. Tibrans and Ajaxians went back to their fighting while the Boraxians made lots of points off the remnants of the krils and somehow went from worst to first [3]. A while later as memory serves me, the Tibrans and Ajaxians realised they had to stop fighting and gang up on the Boraxians, but it was too late for the ajaxians, their base was already under assault and dropped like a rock. Too fast actually, there was a bug involved where boraxian ships were doing 3 times the damage they should have. The solution arrived at with Wingee and the LCs was that the base would be restored and all ships returned to their home base. The boraxians never got going again, despite the fact they still had the advantage in firepower.[4] Hmm, this is where I got to work out the differences between CalJohnson (and his squad of former krils) and Hexxia and some of the other full beta tibs. Seems the former krils had been rather peeved at the lack of respect they got when they joined the tibs from the krils and how their suggestions seemed to go ignored despite the fact they had done so well earlier. Now they were off causing problems fighting the Ajaxians with the Boraxians and causing big problems with the whole NAP situation. That took some working out, but when they came over and decided to help, the Tibrans moved through the roids and RSC to hit Boraxus while the Ajaxians came down through Tripe. Caesar did a great post on this one, the great Boraxian meat grinder. This was also before you took damage in a homeworld for hitting the enemy ships, so our fighters wanted to do that instead of attacking the base. One of the highlights would definitely have had to be when we killed darth_fool 214 points short of a cruiser in Boraxus... all he had to do was log in, shoot once, and go from 500 or so hp to 12500, sitting on 500 hp for an hour and a half before we got someone to log in and kill him off Boraxians from then might also remember Friend's everyone take a repair ship and repair the base strategy. This attack dragged on and on and on before the base was finally brought close to going boom, which of course was when the NAP between ajax and tibs broke down. The Ajaxians withdrew from Boraxus and it was a close one, but Boraxus was destroyed. After trying to get the ships there to move straight up through Tripe to Ajaxus, the ajaxians mounted an attack on Tibrar and we had to drag the ships back there instead and go to Ajaxus via Garen. Ajaxus never stood a chance of course and the Tibrans won.

Somewhere in here I think blackadder got a name change after he was given away as the kril lc, memory of the event fades though.
I picked up the first ever cruiser (and I still don't rate a top pilot mention, hint, hint ) about this time, I got it with a repair ship, this was before carriers. That ship was rather unimpressive. As best I can recall the stats were 34/10/37 or something like that. Fortunately wingee saw the light and changed the stats to the 50/30/50 we all know and love
Around about here I also had the honour of losing the first cruiser when I tried to take on about 10 level 5 Boraxian fighters virtually on my own... ok, so I was a little bored at the time
This is where I got made LC. I wasn't even standing, but the current LC Vasari decided she thought I was better than any of the ones who wanted to be LC and told people to vote for me... when I got told I was the new LC it was something of a surprise to me
