When i first found TVS, by accident when searching for some other online game, I was addicted to its style of play within a few ticks. Having no idea what to do in the beginning, and always being more the explorer then the patient one. I forged ahead and went about learning the new features of a space fighter, for the MIGHTY KRILGORIAN RACE! . Somehow i got VERy lcuky and landed under ShadowWolf's tutelage and was in a small squad of a few. Can't rememebr now, but i think it was the sacred seagulls. I remember pairing up with good ole' SpiderWolve and tearing into the Tibs, who we were NApp'd with at the time, What the hell is a NAP? :) Well before we learned the error of our ways, we achieved lvl 3-4+ ships. However the game was ending right after that as we came in late, and then the Frantic started!

Right off the back I Loved the Frantics!!!! Faster pace of play and more surprise involved when your enemies have less time to react, then the 3 hour tick time in the betas. I cant remember most of the frantic, except somehow I was voted in as LC, not sure if i wanted it or if Stile(Dixi) and Chilidog voted me in. But regardless I came to meet the 2 most influential people in my TVS saga! I couldnt have had any other mentors who culd have taught me as much or took me under their wing. From the far extreme military sadist (man after my own heart) Stile to Chilidog's calm, rational, thought out predictions I had the best council there was to be had. Not to mention sooo many awesome players. However we just didnt have the numbers of actives to make the main difference, though we tried!! This frantic lasted sooo long, and in so doing so I came to meet with most of the players in TVS during this time. Eventually there was no change and it got boring and finally it ended. As did my first reign of being a LC, and MANY lessons learned.

  1. Dont go looking for fights as a LC in a low lvl ship, even if you are going against 3 ships against your 1 and all 3 are higher. lol :)
  2. People came to understand my typing skills, and some believe i do it on purpose :) , or maybe not.... [Editor's note: I cleaned this up a bit on submission, for anyone who doesn't know Talon ;-)]
  3. oh yeah forgot one more... Learned there's a TON of awesome people who play this game and make it enjoyable where it has become so addicting at the time.

so....

Beta 5 (The 525th TALONS) I came up with an idea about using the microw fighters in the Kril fleet , and assigning ALL points to combat making them the most lethal combination of fighting power you can POSSIBLY have in the entire game. But they also needed to survive, so I then needed 1/3 of the fleet to be repair ships with all repair. The reason for this is many fold. The fighters would recieve a lot more dmg, but then also it would give the repair ships a lot more points also they can repair so they would gain lvls a lot faster then being a regular repair ship. Also if another repair ship needed to heal one of the other repair ships, it would also heal for A LOT. Meanwhile the Fighters VASTLY SUPERIOR firepower would whittle away any major resistnce in a short time, and gaining points just as rapidly as the repair ships. However, I wasnt sure if they could last the few turns they needed to either (1) Destroy the major resisting high lvl ships or (2) make them flee leaving us with the sleepers (win/win situation)

It worked betetr then i could have imagined! With mostly ALL veterans in my squad we not only found out they can easily hang, but they could actually take on and beat a force more then 3 times their number. In a short time, we were taking on ALL 3 other legions with just our squad and the blob trying to keep up with us. It was during this time the whole Mutiny happened (yes i agree that is a bad word for it all) and I took the LC position, where i shouldnt have! I was a good squadron leader, but I certainly don't think my aggressive behavior made me the most popular LC :) After mopping up all the other legions, and my squad and legion all half asleep , for my high demands of ticks being kept and allways a driving force, where if you didn't stay awake, you were left behind, I started making critical flaws. The biggest was when i left my squadron in a planet to gain some points. I should have clearly seen that I was giving them a lot more points gain on all their newly acquired low levels then what we could possibly gain, not to mention the planetary defenses that were destroying our fleet after a few ticks sitting in there, and as we pulled out, a combined force was waiting to engage us and even thought we turned and fought in our very damaged squadron, we won with the help of the other squads (our main blob) and unfortunatly lost 1/3 to 1/2 our ships. After this i was disheartned and didnt feel like i was doing a good job, especially with the entire mutiny thing, so i left the game. After this i formed the closest friendship with stile (aka dixi) and came back a few times at various points and usualy met up with him in game, as we always tried to be rogues with power :)

One other thing to note: There was one point in one of the games where Dixi, Me and someone else tried controlling the uncharted sector as rogues and let only one legion in to collect scrap to help their base, and those were some fun ticks as well :)

That being said, I took a very long break from TVS, then tried to come back but lost my internet conenction as i moved back to Washignton state from Utah, then i really applied myself at school, finishing up my degree next quarter, and only now got my high speed internet back up.

Looking forward to a FULL game where i can recreate my Squadron, and perhaps coerce a few people to join me in my madness and try to dominate the galaxy once again!
