Carrying a Drysdale powerplant, usually reserved for light factories on terra firma, the BBB is in essence itself a flying factory, manufacturing its own bombs on the run. The additional power used by the autorepair system means that the Drysdale is constantly at work. There isn't a lot of space left in the ship after all that, so something has to give and in this case it is the Beretta Industrial Group shielding system.
