I found TVS, through EOC. Which I found while looking for X-Com information from Infogrames for a website I helped run (Aside: Fat chance, worst thing that happened to the X-Com license.) Moved to TVS from EOC, when the databases kept going down and it was impossible to log in, and there was awful problems with multis, and... Played both side by side for a while, but when the ticks moved to ending at 1am GMT on EOC, started to wean myself off it, as I had things called lectures which got in the way if I had no sleep.

  • WARNING* The Below maybe complete and utter nonsense, I can't remember the specifics - I just know what happened! ;-)) *WARNING*

As I said above, I can't really remember my first beta, so I'm not sure which it was. What I do remember, is that I was a Tib, and Morgana went rogue a few days after I joined after being our LC. About all I remember though.

Next Beta I really remember was one of my favourite ever ones - This was 4B according to the archives... It's strange, it's my most memorable beta, but I'm not sure what legion I was on!!! I'm pretty sure I was a Tib, which means that I did start in 3, because I went Tib, something, Tib I think... Anyway... As I was saying, my favourite beta... yes... Well, what can I say? Great legion. Very powerful, off around the galaxy destroying some Bors, or such, and our HW got attacked. It's okay, don't need to worry, can pound away a bit more, and then head back and kill those bugs. Oh crap. Server down. Oh crap. HW gone. Aw nuts. Actually, to be honest, I think we'd have had trouble if the server hadn't been down anyway, we left it too long. But we stuck together, and caused more than one person a lot of anguish - so much so, that they tried to hunt us down, and failed... ;-) Freeman, who was no. 1 for ages, Chopper, who was number 2 for ages, and me (VC), number 3 for ages, along with SH (LC) , TumNarDok, Fox13, and others only ended up dying in the assault on Krilgore, where we tried to defend it bravely for them, and ended up getting picked as the main targets, as we had caused so much annoyance! :) The only reason the ranking was as it is, is because so many cruisers were made by the bombing, and so many points were gained. For most of the beta, as I said, we were way out in front. Freeman was outstanding in his cruiser, Chopper got her carrier just before it blew, and I missed out iirc. I was destroyed in tick 349, and the game only went on for a few more ticks. But the thing that made the beta for me was the legion spirit, and the fact that we still made a difference to the game as a home-less legion. After that, the games become a blur again... All I can remember, is I seemed to lose my HW in odd ways, and never died and got a new legion afterwards. Starting with the next Beta when SH was LC again, and I had a distinct feeling of deja vu, apart from the fact we didn't make such an impact. This was the one where Espy decided to take up Propaganda and a certain LC *cough* VD*cough* made a very stupid decision... Never won however. Then was my last beta for a while. Can't remember which beta it was - it was the one with Talon's 525th squad. I was going off soon for summer holidays myself, but went sooner than necessary because of a nasty taste that was left in my mouth by certain nameless people taking the game too seriously, and seemingly not caring about fun. People who are around may remember a certain uprising, and subsequent comments, and I just had had enough. By this time, I had started playing DA, and when I came back after hols, I felt no wish to rejoin TVS. Until Wingee sent a message around after Christmas, and I thought I'd give it another shot. I became a Kril, had a great legion with great people, and suddenly remembered how good the game actually was. This time I didn't lose my HW stupidly, and we won the beta. Which was nice. Was a victorious Kril the next beta too.

And will shut up now, because I'm talking too much, and I'm not even sure about names and dates and legions anyway. Infact, as I said the above may be total rubbish because I have a sieve for a memory.
