NEW PAPER INAUGURATED
Inaugural Story: Outbreak of War and Battles on the Outer Ring
This is the first issue of the new Ajaxian Herald. The Herald aims to bring you the finest news service from around the galaxy, with a bit of an Ajaxian slant to things to ensure it's relevant to our readership. Submissions from freelance journalists are encouraged, although the editor reserves the right to remove anything that isn't a newspaper report from this thread.
Two days ago saw the resumption of hostilities with the Boraxian, Tibran and Krilgorian legions. Although Ajaxus had been destroyed some few months ago, it has been rebuilt in secret and the new Ajaxian legion is ready to emerge from the shadows. Sources suggest that Anakin is ready to assume the post of Legion Commander and lead us to our inevitable total victory. It'll all be over by Christmas, we're sure.
Initial reports of legion movements suggest a probing attack on Star City by the Tibrans was repelled easily, although a counterattack to CT6 encountered supply shortages and was forced to withdraw. The Boraxians and Krilgorians have been engaged in fierce fighting near Durius Highlands - reports from that battle are sporadic.

Planet Krilgore: The new Krilgorian main base has been unveiled. Nobody's quite sure why they bothered.
Aquarious: Pegasus Heavy Industries has been gearing up for a new round of cruiser production. There are suggestions that they instigated the lates round of hostilities, but frankly, who cares - it means we get to kill the other legions.
Red Sky City: A confused Bor found a ticking package in his cargo bay. Not being the sharpest tool in the box, and a bit hungry, he ate it. Shortly afterwards, he redecorated his cabin. Never have liked red paint, myself.

BATTLE IN CT6
Tibs Believed To Be Wavering
Late last night the Ajaxian fleet made a coordinated strike on Tibran positions in CT6. Fierce fighting has ensued, with a number of prominent casualties on both sides. However, the morale of the Tibrans is believed to be low, with normally-upbeat Tibran pilot Chilidog overheard bemoaning the Tibs' lack of activity and recklessly burning his fuel supplies long before the next shipment was due, leading to his fighter's eventual destruction at the hands of Ajaxian Legion Commander Anakin. Dignified as ever, Anakin was heard blowing rasperries over the comm channel at his foe.

Durius Highlands: Bor-Kril battle continues. Locals fed up with dead lizards falling out of the sky.
Perosis: Kril fallback sector attacked by giant space slug. Slug lured into local brewery where it drowned (but died happy). Ajaxian Beer Squad have vowed revenge on giant space slugs everywhere. Or alternatively on the Krils, whichever's easiest.

Press announcement
In front of angry and uncertain Ajaxian people in our beloved Capital Legion Commander Anakin was summoned to explain the shameful defeats in two straight battles for the glorious Ajaxian Fleet; here is an exterpt of his announcement:
"Beloved Ajaxians and fellow Pilots...We fought bravely two battles which unfortunately were lost because some of the fellow pilots were busy caressing their wives and childrens and rumours are that some even comitted the horrible attrocity of piloting while being drunk,thus some were not flying at their full potential. First battle was supposed to be a glorious win for our people..second one was a sure win until the slimey Tibs managed to clone with an unknown tehnique as today such amount of pilots that our brave pilots were overruned and had to retreat in disarray.As a result we are stuck here to defend our beloved ones while the HIgh Council decides upon the path we are to follow.
HOWEVER,some pilots DID NOT do their duty and they did not flew with us,fact that lead to our sound defeat;I appeal to them to make an effort to help us in our soon to come battles"
"One more thing:I ASSURE you we won`t be defeated for the third time or I will resign from the Legion Commander function and appoint a better man or woman to lead you"

BEER SQUAD REACTION
What's Wrong With Flying Drunk?
At a press conference today, the high-profile beer squad rejected LC Anakin's description of flying drunk as an "Atrocity". Squadron Leader Dandarl: "Flying drunk is a long and glor... (hic!)... glorious tradition in this legion. If we're seeing double then we're never afraid to have the numbers against us -there's always half what it looks like in there. The Beer Squad will con... (hic!)... tinue to drink and fly, although if Ecvej pukes in my galley again he'll be sorry".
Following this announcement, Dandarl took a step backwards, tripped over a small step, landed flat on his back and started snoring loudly. His press secretary later assured reporters that he suffered from occasional narcolepsy rather than just being unable to hold his beer.

Exterp: "One of our journalists saw Anakin in his apartament making strange rituals and praying although he is known to be atheist; inside sources indicate that he is concerned about the low level of activity of his pilots and a dark path ahead of him"

MASSIVE EMP DISABLES GALAXY
All Legions Believed Affected
Earlier today a massive EMP shockwave passed through the galaxy, disabling all electronic systems in its wake. These systems are only now beginning to come back online, but indications suggest that the nearby Andromeda galaxy has undergone some form of cataclysm and exploded in its entirety. If we're lucky, it'll pull the Tibs into the associated black hole.

BATTLE FOR THE TOWER
Fierce Fighting In Star City
Last night fighting erupted around the Ajaxian Scan Tower in Star City as the Tibran Fleet attacked. A small Tibran squadron had made a feint attack into Ajaxus itself in an apparent effort to lure the Ajax fleet out of Star City, but the transparent ploy failed miserably.
The fighting so far has been vicious, with casualties reported on both sides. The Ajaxian fleet has lost a number of class 2 ships including Mordecai, PillaR and Leopard, while the class 3 repairship of Ecvej was forced to withdraw and the class 3 ship of Phoenix02 was destroyed. However, they have held their own against the enemy, inflicting a number of class 3 losses including cloaker Reavus and repairer parabola^, along with smaller ships such as the class 2 bomber of Fastjack.
Ajaxian reinforcements are currently pouring into the sector, while the Tibs' supply lines are stretched. Sources inside the Ajaxian High Command believe that the battle is currently balanced, but are confident that it is beginning to turn in our favour.

CT6: Tibran cultists discouraged by the failure of their god to do anything at all. You'd think they'd be used to it by now.
The Asteroid Fields: Ajaxian pilot Son_of_Squid wakes up in the middle of the fields with a damaged cloaker and a headache. We'd say he was believed drunk, but he's a Beer Squad member - we *know* he was drunk.

Small Victory
Today last Pilots are returning home from a daring and cunning attack on Tibrar in which they tested new gear and guns. It is believed they sweeped the Inner Ring first killing some Pilots and gaining nice levels
Ajax Mass-Media said to present the event as a MAJOR moral victory.

Ajaxians face tib fleet
asof turn 136 morale started to wither among the ajaxian fighter pilots, so legion command decided to go hunt for some points : destenation the three suns. upon arriving it seemed nice enough but after one tick the skies flared up with jumpgates opening as the remainder of the jax fleet aswell as the tib blob where entering the sector resulting in a standof of 17 ships to either side.
Evenly matched the daring jax decided to stand their ground. But the incoming remainder of the tib blob was sending the jax morale to an all time low.
eot tick a bit of the jax fleet was going home but some daring pilots stayed online to soak op ennemie fire to try to get a save return of their sleeping buddies.
so all u reppers at homebase stand ready for some orange an red pilots comming in.

Strange comms where recieved insector broadcasted from the vessel skirmisher. Propagandistic materiaal to "all stay an die" was recieved by multipel pilots.
We feaar for the life an welbeing of the commander of this vessel.

THE GREAT AJAXIAN HIDEOUT
Ajaxian Fleet Sits Tight
Our glorious fleet is currently engaged in... well, nothing much. After the debacle in The Three Suns yesterday, where some pilots stayed after the retreat order to face certain death out of sheer boredom, the Ajaxian fleet has withdrawn to Ajaxus to wait the Tibs out. Legion Commander Swedish was heard muttering to himself following a meeting of the general staff, and although the exact words were difficult to make out it seemed to be something about being sure the Tibs would get bored and go home some time in the next millenium.
Meanwhile, nobody's quite sure what the Bors and Krils are up to. A number of subspace detonations have suggested Boraxian losses, but nobody knows where. Ajaxian High Command, fed up of a blank chart table, have requested scouts to go look for them. Quote one source who didn't want to be named: "If we don't know where they are, we can't stay away from them. Well, we could, but we don't look pro-active enough to get re-elected if we just stay in Ajaxus".
Other news:
The Three Suns: Tibs encounter God hiding amongst the Ajaxian fleet. True to form, they killed him and went back to asteroid-worshipping.
New Sector Alpha: Ajaxian scrap runners expected soon. Scrap shares rise in anticipation of imminent shortage.
Boraxus: How should we know? We've barely left home for a week!

THE END?
Tibran Invasion Fleet In Orbit
A few hours ago a large Tibran task force entered orbit above Ajaxus Home. While Ajaxian Fleet Command is doing what it can to defend the homeworld, a defeatist air is hanging over Ajaxus, with most people interviewed writing off our chances of survival.
Bombs have already begun falling on our legion's capital city (although on the up-side, one scored a direct hit on the offices of our competition, the Daily Ajax). The bombardment so far has been sporadic and light, while the Tibs fend off what resistance our fleet can muster, but this is expected to change shortly. We'd advise you to take shelter, but frankly there's no point. You're dead, live with it.
However, while all is seemingly lost, plans are already being formed for a guerilla revenge war on the Tibs once our home is gone. The Ajaxian Herald may not be able to produce issues after this one, with Tibran press censorship coming into force, but the staff of the Herald wish to call on all good Ajaxians to take to the hills (figuratively - use your imagination) and make the Tibs regret their violent and foolhardy bombardment of our home.
